Compression stockings are specialized hosiery items that provide graduated pressure on the lower leg and foot and, in some cases, the thigh, to alleviate blood circulatory problems. Unlike traditional stockings, compression stockings are made of elastic fibres or rubber to create pressure on the legs, ankles and feet.
Blood circulation, the movement of blood throughout the body, is crucial for the proper functioning of the heart and brain. Circulatory problems arise when there is limited blood flow to the body, including legs, feet and toes.
Blood vessels become blocked when a fatty substance called plaque builds up, hardens and constricts the walls of the arteries and veins. The interruption of normal blood flow results in poor circulation.

The eye is one of the most sensitive organs in your body and needs routine care to prevent problems and abnormalities. Maintaining healthy eyes from a young age is extremely important because as we age, it is much more common to develop vision problems. Identifying and treating these problems immediately is highly recommended for your overall eye health. If you are between the ages of 20-64, you can book a ROUTINE EYE EXAM (not covered by OHIP-additional costs apply) at our Eye Care Clinic located at 2116 Montreal Rd. For any other eye-related problems, a referral is required from a physician, in order to see an Ophthalmologist or a Family Physician-Foreign Trained/Certified Ophthalmologist. Cosmetic Eye Services/Procedures are also available at the Eye Care Clinic, no referral is required (additional costs may apply).

Internal Medicine specialists are referred to as Internists and it is a broad-based specialty that provides primary and specialty care to adults. Internists are specifically trained to diagnose and manage diseases in all our organ systems and are specially trained to manage seriously ill patients with advanced diseases as well as diseases affecting multiple organs/systems.

There are 5 OB/GYN specialists working at various locations in Ottawa and 2 of them have hospital privileges for deliveries and surgeries. There are 3 GYN specialist working at various locations in Toronto by referral.
If you have pelvic symptoms, Dr. Onochie is available without a referral for a gynecological assessment.
Orthopedic Braces And Custom Braces For Sports Or Work-Related Injuries

Custom Orthopedic Braces are prescribed medical appliances that are manufactured based on precise measurements of your leg knee or specific body part and tailored for your specific injury. They are made of rigid materials and are designed specifically for each individual client.
Custom knee back wrist and elbow braces usually require either a cast impression of the client’s knee which is taken by a qualified specialist or measurements are taken with state-of-the-art laser technology thus ensuring a custom fit for the client. Some conditions requiring a client to wear a custom knee brace include anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), medial collateral ligament (MCL), posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) injuries or instabilities; osteoarthritis; pre and post-surgery requirements; genetic conditions; and, conservative management for non-surgical patients and athletes.
Having sustained injuries and surgeries, your rehabilitation process may sometimes require the use of custom bracing to aid in recovery. Your orthopedic surgeon or family physician can prescribe these devices for you and the first major step for us is to properly identify the type of condition that you have and the lifestyle and activities you want to return to. Several bracing options are available to customize your needs.
Custom orthopedic devices are covered under most extended health plans. Check your plan details to verify the coverage you may be eligible for.

He works closely with the doctors to ensure our patients get a custom-designed and fitted orthotic to improve the biomechanics of their gait, relieving their symptoms. Currently finishing his Pedorthic certification training as well, Matthew brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the care of our patient’s lower limb problems. No referral is required. You can book directly into Matt’s schedule via the patient portal or by calling us. We bill Veteran’s Affairs directly but assist all patient’s with any insurance paperwork to ensure seamless service to our patients.

Our pap clinics are provided to ensure that all women who are sexually active are screened for the early signs of cervical cancer, as well as common STI’s. These are screening pap clinics, meaning they are for patients who have no current gynecologic symptoms. If you have any worrisome symptoms such as pain, discharge, abnormal bleeding, abnormal finding on self-exam, or are currently pregnant, you must see one of the doctors on a regular visit to be examined and tested. If you are free of symptoms, you can book into our screening pap clinic. Birth Control can also be renewed during your pap clinic visit if needed. Cancer Care Ontario has published new guidelines regarding Cervical Cancer Screening. Plantar Wart Treatment

If you have a painful plantar wart, treatment is covered by OHIP and there are a number of different treatment options available to you. The doctors will select the treatment plan that is appropriate for the type of lesion or wart you are trying to remove. We also treat warts in other areas of the body, but please remember that OHIP only covers the treatment of plantar warts. When the doctor treats other types of warts, the patient is responsible for payment at a treatment cost of $25 per lesion or small cluster. Discuss the cost with the doctor prior to treatment in cases of hand, face or genital warts to determine treatment cost.
