About Appletree’s WSIB Rapid Access Program
Lost labour time due to workplace injury strains the worker, the employer, and society. Rapid access to same-day care is critical when an employee is injured at work. The sooner a doctor sees an injured employee, the sooner they can begin their recovery and the more likely they will successfully reintegrate into the workplace. Appletree offers employers a WSIB Rapid Access Program that provides injured employees with prompt WSIB assessments, typically on the same day.
It is advantageous for employees and employers to be assessed by a physician who is highly knowledgeable about WSIB processes. Thanks to our broad network of medical centres, you have a choice of location, and the doctor will assess your injured worker promptly and thoroughly. You call our Occupational Health Program coordinator, and they will arrange a same-day appointment for your injured employee at a location convenient to them.
How Does It Work?
Member organizations can call our Occupational Health Program coordinator, and they will arrange a same-day appointment for your injured employee at a location convenient to them. All appointments are booked with the help of our program coordinators.
What to Expect at Your Appointment
If a workplace injury occurs, an Appletree physician will assess your employee’s needs and complete the necessary documents. We will then forward the documents to WSIB on your behalf. After the appointment, your employees are provided with a free Appletree Patient Portal account, where any required test results will be made available through a safe and secure database. The form with functional abilities for modified work will be provided to the patient at the time of their visit to bring back with them for their HR department or appropriate health and safety staff supervisor.
Frequently Asked Questions
What forms does your employee need to bring?
Appletree Medical Group keeps a copy of all required forms on file, so no forms are needed. We will ensure that the appropriate form is completed and sent to WSIB.
How long does it take to be seen?
As a member of our program, you can either call your dedicated staff member — who will book a same-day appointment — or your employee can use our wait-time tool on our website to pick the clinic with the shortest wait time, or the most convenient location.
The time spent with the physician depends on the presenting injury, but generally speaking, we can have your staff in and out of the clinic with a minimum number of hours lost.
