What is Rehabilitation Medicine?
Rehabilitation medicine is a medical specialty that aims to restore and improve functional abilities in individuals with disabilities, injuries, or illnesses. It differs from physiotherapy and chiropractic care in its comprehensive scope, medical expertise of physiatrists, holistic approach, and multidisciplinary collaboration. Physiotherapy and chiropractic care focus more specifically on musculoskeletal conditions using targeted techniques.
What is a Physiatrist?
Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation specialists, also known as Physiatrists, treat a wide variety of medical conditions affecting the brain, spinal cord, nerves, bones, joints, ligaments, muscles, and tendons.
